DC's 4th Annual Forum for Urban Gardens

Rooting DC will offer a range of workshops and hands-on learning opportunities for new and old green thumbs alike. It will:

Build community among groups and individuals who want to improve our city through gardening and greening
Share information and resources about gardening and greening in DC

Provide opportunity for DC gardeners to coalesce around specific areas of interest

Identify volunteer opportunities by creating a database of community based garden projects

Keep gardeners connected via monthly e-newsletters that highlight volunteer opportunities, events and news from participants

Welcome to this new online spot to report, talk about, and plan for changes necessary for Ward 1 to be a good place for all residents to live and businesses to thrive. In addition to this online platform, there will be ample opportunity to meet, work and celebrate this vibrant community in person.

Kicked off by the Columbia Heights/Shaw Family Support Collaborative with the support of others in the community -- including Martha's Table, Office of Latino Affairs, and Mary's Center -- Strengthening Ward One Together is designed to simultaneously better ensure the basic needs of our neighbors are met, improve the connections between providers of all kinds, and make Ward 1 as robust and inclusive as we all want it to be.
